Clinical Laboratory Science

Program Mission

The mission of the undergraduate Clinical Laboratory Science Program is to develop a diverse population of students who are academically, intellectually, and technically prepared to be successful health care qualified entry-level healthcare practitioners.

Accreditation Status

The Texas Southern University, Clinical Laboratory Science baccalaureate degree-granting program is located on the main campus at 3100 Cleburne Street, Houston, Texas 77004. The program is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences. ( www.naacls.org )

Application Accepted: January 4 to May 31
Application Fee $55.00 Pay Here
Three (3) Letters of Recommendation

Suggestion from at least two of the following:

  • Faculty
  • Employment Supervisor
  • Supervisor of Volunteer Activities
GPA 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
Course Completion
  • Completion of prerequisite courses in the degree plan
  • Listed courses must be completed by the entering fall semester (Page 2 of the degree plan shows approved substitute courses)
Interview
  • Interviews are scheduled for students who meet the initial program requirements.
  • Candidates will be notified by email regarding scheduled interview times and locations.
Other Requirements
  • Students must be in good standing, both academically and non-academically.
  • Summer Academy Program: For 6 weeks starting the first full week in July.
  • ATI TEAS Exam (details in attachment)
Program/ Internship Requirements
  • Students must have a social security number at the time of admission.
  • Students must pass a background check and drug screening, as well as be subject to random background and/or drug screening tests.
  • Students are responsible for all associated fees.
  • Possible vaccination requirements.
